The wheels of government are reportedly grinding on a famous mural by our favorite Californa/Hawaii artist: Wyland.
The 140 feet long, 40 feet high artwork was painted and donated by Wyland to the City of San Diego in 1989.
This cool piece of Orca art could be in jeopardy, thanks to a recent vote by the California Coastal Commission, according to the Wyland Currents Newsletter.
The commission vote to approve adding three rooftop decks and an elevator means part of the mural must go.
Wyland's foundation is now currently working with the developer and the city preserve the mural, one of 100 that the artist has donated worldwide in more than 15 countries.
Wyland says his organization is "deeply appreciative of the many fans who continue to support the legacy of these artworks and the Wyland organization's efforts for conservation and education."
