In our latest Weddell Seal Science Podcast episode, "Weddell Seals" multimedia ebook author and creator Jeremy Schmidt reads an excerpt from the ebook on the early pioneering work in the study of the Weddell seals of Erebus Bay by British Antarctic explorer, naturalist and artist Dr. Edward A. Wilson. Wilson gives a vividly accurate portrayal of encountering a Weddell seal!

Edward Wilson was a member of Robert Falcon Scott's ill-fated expedition to reach the South Pole, and died on the return from the South Pole in 1912. His scientific Antarctic Notebooks are filled with beautiful accurate drawings and accompanying paintings of the mammals and birds he encountered in Antarctica.
